Glee is offered for all Grades 7-12 students, and is a course focused on singing and popular music! Each week we choose a "topic" and students can work alone or in groups to prepare a song performance that fits the topic. Junior High students can choose to stay in Glee for all 4 terms if they'd like, or they can try it for just one term!

Students in Glee will have many opportunities to perform throughout the year, depending on which term(s) they are enrolled. Term 1 students will perform in our Remembrance Day assembly, Term 2 students will perform in our Winter Concert, Term 3 students will perform in our Pink Shirt Day assembly, and Term 4 students will perform in our Year End Concert.

We are very lucky to have a recording studio built in to our Music Room, and Glee students will learn to use the technology to record their performances! Students in Grades 7-9 will focus mostly on the recording process itself, while our high school students will dive deeper into the editing process using Logic Pro.

In high school, Glee is called "General Music". It is offered at the Grade 10, 11, and 12 levels, and is only available one semester each year. Students enrolled in General Music will continue developing their performance skills, but will also learn basic music theory, and will explore a variety of other topics such as Careers in Music, World Music, Canadian Music, Pop Music, and Music Technology.

We plan 2-3 Open Mic Nights per year, each in support of a different local charity. Admission is by donation and open to the general public, and student performers of any kind are invited to sign up. In the past our events have raised money for organizations such as the Wood Buffalo Humane Society, The Centre of Hope, and the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.
