Welcome to Semantics and Logic Honors, a one-semester, honors-level elective in which we will study language, grammar, and how meaning is constructed from language.
We will begin with what is (hopefully) a review of some grammar essentials, then evaluate words in terms of their shades of meaning, ending with how each of these things impacts communication (or, potentially, miscommunication).
Finally, we'll read and evaluate some Classical as well as classic literature in an attempt to determine how our understanding of language contributes to our understanding and interpretation of literature.
I hope you are up for the challenge of this honors-level course and the rigor it requires. If you determine that this is not the right course for you, please be sure to reach out to your homeroom teacher and/or your guidance counselor right away.
Here's to a great semester!
