The Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources pathway offers a comprehensive progression of courses designed to prepare students for careers in various agricultural and natural resource fields. The foundational course, Basic Agriculture Science, introduces students to the major areas of scientific agricultural production and research, covering a wide range of topics including FFA, supervised agricultural experiences, soil science, plant science, animal science, natural resources, food processing, environmental science, and agricultural mechanics.
Building on this foundation, students can then explore more specialized areas through core and intermediate courses. General Horticulture and Plant Science delves deeper into plant-related topics, while Animal Science Technology/Biotechnology focuses on scientific principles related to animal breeding, husbandry, and production. The Agricultural Mechanics Technology courses (I & II) provide hands-on experience with various aspects of agricultural mechanics, including woodworking, electrical systems, welding, small engines, and equipment operation. For those interested in wildlife and conservation, the Wildlife Management course covers principles of wildlife management, habitat assessment, population dynamics, and relevant laws.
As students progress, they can further specialize with advanced courses such as Agribusiness Management and Leadership, which explores the business side of agriculture, including management, finance, agricultural law, and economics. The Agricultural Animal Production and Management course offers an in-depth study of animal production practices for various livestock species. Throughout the pathway, courses incorporate classroom learning, laboratory activities, supervised agricultural experiences, and FFA leadership development, providing a well-rounded education that balances theoretical knowledge with practical skills and leadership development.
