The composite sketch of the suspect looked closest to Harry.
It is no secret that Harry Peak was a pathological liar. While being questioned by investigators, he gave over seven alibis. Each time Harry was investigated, his stories would be altered to the point where they were basically the same, or unrecognizably different. The first recorded instance was when ATF agent Thomas Maker first interviewed him., Harry claimed he was downtown on the day of the fire and wanted to visit the library. Still, the secretary stopped him from entering using the excuse that the library was closed. Then only a couple of hours later, Harry called Makar and spewed out an entirely different story about how he had never even been to the Central Library. On a later occasion, Harry added the claim that he was hanging out with two of his friends who could act as alibis and then proceeded to part ways with them at 10 a.m. to drive to Santa Fe Springs by himself to visit his parent's house. However, only a few days later, Harry fabricated another account, saying that he spent the morning with two different friends and left them after a while for the French Market Place in West Hollywood to meet with his Chiropodist, Stephan Wilkie. This was the final version of his narrative, and he declared that everything he had said before had been a lie.
