Rainy days are happening more often in LA than you would think. On average it rains for about 36 days year-round in Los Angeles, which equates to less than 10%. Even though rainfall is needed, when it rains Los Angeles gets flooded. Luckily, there are channels that help the water flow to the Pacific Ocean. The La river for example, the La river is encased in concrete, so that when it rains it doesn't overflow, also to keep the path that the river is in. We barely have systems to catch rainwater and filter it into safe drinking water. 95% of the stormwater that La receives either goes into the Pacific Ocean or gets wasted the rest of the 5% goes to habitats, large bodies of water, and dams. Over the years, we have managed to stop flooding, but we have to create new systems that are going to help us save water. (wip)
