Hi! I'm Cera (pronounced Sarah) McCord, and I am so excited to welcome your family to first grade! This will be my 15th year teaching at Frankton Elementary, and I honestly can't imagine doing anything else. I've also have the privilege of teaching alongside our amazing first grade team for more than 10 years, and I truly believe this grade is magical!
I grew up down south in Seymour, Indiana, but Frankton quickly became my home after I married my husband, who was born and raised on his family's farming and livestock hauling operation just outside of town. We have two wonderful children, Houston (7) and Faith (3).
Our son keeps us pretty busy with baseball, basketball, soccer, and swimming, however in our spare time we love traveling to truck shows with our semis and exploring new places.
I earned my bachelor's degree from Indiana University, where I spent four years on the IU Dance Team, and later earned my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
Now for the important stuff... I'm a huge fan of anything country western, Dolly Parton is basically a national treasure, and if I could choose anywhere to live, it would be somewhere out West. If you happen to see me outside of school, don't be alarmed if I'm wearing boots, a hat, and Carhartts instead of "teacher clothes."
Parents often ask what kind of teacher I am. The honest answer is... both.
I have high expectations, and my students know that I expect them to work hard, be kind, and always do their best. I'm firm because I believe kids thrive when expectations are clear.
But I'm also the teacher who has absolutely no problem showing up in a giant chicken costume just because it makes first graders laugh. I love transforming our hallway for every season, celebrating the little things, and making school a place where kids can't wait to walk through the doors each morning. Around here, we work hard, laugh a lot, and make memories that last long after first grade is over.
I believe the best learning happens when students feel safe, loved, challenged, and excited to be here. I also believe parents are my teammates, and together we'll help your child have an amazing year.

Welcome! I am so excited to welcome you and your child to our first grade family! First grade truly is the BEST year!
I know the first day of school can bring a mix of excitement and nerves, for both children and parents. Whether this is your first child or you've been through it before, I understand that trusting someone else with your child is a big deal. Please know that I don't take that responsibility lightly. As a mom, I know how much trust it takes to send your child to school each day. That perspective reminds me daily what a privilege it is to teach and care for someone else's child.
My goal is for every child to feel safe, loved, encouraged, and excited to come to school each day. I will encourage them, believe in them, celebrate their successes, and help them through challenges. First grade truly is an amazing year! It is a year filled with incredible growth, new friendships, exciting discoveries, and so many reasons to celebrate. We will laugh together, learn together, and make memories that will last long after this school year ends.

This marks my 21st year of teaching, and I truly love what I do. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University (Chirp! Chirp!), followed by a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
My husband and I met at Ball State, and this summer we celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary. We have three wonderful children, Haylee (21), Blake (18), and Brody (14)—along with our sweet four-year-old Goldendoodle, Ginger.
Our family loves spending time together, cheering on our kids at their sporting events, going on adventures, and relaxing at the beach whenever we can.
Thank you for entrusting me with your child this year. I can't wait to watch your child grow in confidence, discover a love of learning, and make wonderful memories in first grade. Here's to an amazing year together!

Hello! I am so excited to welcome you and your child to my class this year. A little about me, I graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minor in psychology and counselling. I have been teaching with FLCS for 21 years now. I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and third grade. Although I love the experience it has given me, my heart definitely belongs in first grade. I have been happily married for sixteen years and blessed with three wonderful children. Alana is 22 and just graduated from IUK. Ella is 14 years old and will be a big freshman this year. Liam is 8 and will be starting third grade this year. We also have two very spoiled dogs named Sophie and Luna. They all definitely keep us busy. We love having fun together and spending time as a family. I am excited to get this school year started and get to know all of you very soon!

Hello and welcome! My name is Mrs. Meghan Wise, and I am so excited to be your child's first-grade teacher this year!
I graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and later earned my master's degree there as well. This school year marks my 19th year teaching at Frankton Elementary, and I still love helping young learners grow each day.
My husband, Travis, and I have two wonderful children: our 7-year-old son, Grayson, and our 3-year-old daughter, Mara. As a family, we enjoy visiting baseball stadiums, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, spending time outdoors, taking walks, and going fishing together.
First grade is an exciting year filled with learning, growth, and fun! I can't wait to get to know your child and partner with your family to make this a successful and memorable school year. We're going to have an amazing year together!

Hi! My name is Kalyn Dilts and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year! This is my first year teaching, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to begin this adventure with such an amazing group of students and families.
I recently graduated from Anderson University with my bachelor’s degree in elementary education and had the incredible opportunity to complete my student teaching last spring right here at Frankton Elementary in first grade!
Outside of the classroom, I love hiking at state parks and reading. I’m also a dance teacher at a dance studio in Pendleton and have over sixteen years of dance training!
I hope you had a fantastic summer, and I am looking forward to an amazing year together in first grade!
