Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are trained and unpaid individuals who provide direct and indirect services to those seeking and receiving services form a domestic violence program and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act; Title VI of the Civil Rights Act: Paragraph 504 of the Rehabilitation Act; the Age Discrimination Act of 1975; and other applicable laws and regulations. There are many volunteer opportunities available that include but are not limited to:


  • working at the shelter

  • answering the domestic violence hotline

  • serving as a board member

  • mentoring clients

  • picking up in-kind donations

  • offering in-kind professional services to aid and educate clients (ex: skilled professionals may provide life skills classes on budgeting, mechanics on how to charge a car battery or check oil, etc.)

  • assist in fundraising efforts


Volunteer Requirements

For those working directly with clients and/or answering the crisis hotline:

  1. Must pass a criminal and child maltreatment registry background check

  2. Complete application and provide 3 references

  3. Must complete in 15 hours of initial training to include ACADV's training

  • Basic Advocacy

  • Dynamics of Domestic Violence

  • Ethics

  • Staff Shadowing

  • Court Advocacy

  1. 10 hours annual continuing education

  2. Sign Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest Agreements


Board Members

  1. Complete application and provide 3 references

  2. Complete Dynamics of Domestic Violence Training

  3. Complete required Board Training Provided by the Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence as requested with full board

  4. Attend monthly board meetings

  5. Participate in Fundraising and Awareness Events

  6. Sign Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest Agreements
