Science Teacher/Coach- 2019-20 : During Semester 1, as part of embedded units of inquiry, Gds 4 and 5 had over 30 hours of Science specific instruction, Grades 2 and 3 had over 40 hours. Primary/Grade 1 ha 7-10 hours of direct instruction.
Further science work was linked to outdoor learning and Forest Days, where the teachers planned with the Science coach, but were largely responsible for the direct instruction.
(For information- Grades 4 and 5 currently receive about 60 hours of stand alone art a year)
Parents were invited to observe a science lab morning- to watch science learning in action in grades 2 and 3.

FISW Science Coach also planned 3 units for grades 6 and 7 with science teacher, and team-taught and modelled teaching for Grades 6-8 as NGSS standards and a modelled inquiry pedagogy were introduced to 6-8 science.
