My practice is a sensory exploration of how the environment dictates our emotional equilibrium. I seek to move beyond the "visual window" of the landscape, immersing myself in a journey that prioritises smell, touch, and sound as much as sight. To me, the scent of a changing season or the friction of fallen leaves underfoot is not just an observation; it is the anchor that gives us a sense of belonging.
This deep connection to the land manifests through a multidisciplinary approach. I use photography and video as a performative language to capture the "transient melody" of time, the tension between growth and decay. These digital records are often remastered into a visual language intended to transport you toward a more spiritual plane. In the field, my process is visceral. I carry charcoal and papers into the elements, often discarding traditional tools to use my hands as brushes. Letting the rhythm of the wind guide my movements, I translate the sharp lines of birdsong and the warmth of the breeze into a poetic dance on the surface. In this space, the landscape is more than a backdrop; it is a muse and an active, albeit unknowing, partner in the creative act.
My work is a record of the ephemeral. Translating these fleeting sensory experiences into a tangible form, I invite you to confront the profound fragility of our connection to the Earth. As maps of spiritual encounters existing only for a heartbeat, a shifting scent, a fading light, a breath of wind. I aim to transport you into a space where you can feel the delicate pulse of a world that is constantly becoming and constantly dissolving.
In documenting these rhythms, I hope to evoke a sense of belonging as deep as it is precarious, reminding us that our place within the natural world is a beautiful, vanishing dance we must learn to witness before it passes.
