Ryan Lindahl

Ryan Lindahl has been in education for ten years. He comes from a family of educators including his mother, Sherry Lindahl, and his wife, Brianna Lindahl. He is currently teaching 8th grade math and honors algebra at Glenwood Middle School.

Lindahl, who is originally from Bowling Green, did his undergraduate work at the University of Toledo and then moved onto Western Governor’s University. There he completed a masters degree in Mathematics Education and a second masters in curriculum and instruction. When asked why he chose this field Lindahl responded, “I’ve always been fascinated by math. My mother taught in Findlay City Schools for many years, and eventually I figured out that teaching math would be a natural fit for me.”

As a math teacher he is always looking for new ways to motivate his students. His most recent project came about with the help of a grant that he wrote. “I received a grant through Findlay Enrichment Programs that allowed me to purchase 3D pens. These pens allowed me to have students create polyhedra and analyze/discuss their properties. We also created rectangular prisms and drew in their space-diagonals in an effort to see how the Pythagorean Theorem can be applied in three dimensions,” Lindahl explained. Besides his classroom duties he is also the chair of the 8th grade math department, spelling bee host, and on a number of committees both at Glenwood and within the district.

When asked to share something that would help define his as a teacher Lindahl responded, “’I’ve recently had multiple students from nearly a decade ago tell me that they are now pursuing a career in math education or other fields closely related to mathematics. They gave me credit as having been one of the numerous teachers they had that helped them understand just how fascinating and rewarding math can be. Hearing this was incredibly rewarding, as you can imagine.”

Lindahl lives in Findlay with his wife and their two children Aubrey and Knox.
