Denise Bowsher

Denise Bowsher, a Reading Specialist at Bigelow Hill Elementary, has been teacher for 29 years. Originally from Carrollton, Ohio, she received her Bachelor’s degree at Bowling Green State University. She went on to get her Master’s at the University of Findlay with an endorsement in reading. Bowsher did not deicide that teaching was for her until she was in college, “It wasn't until I was a sophomore in college that I realized that I wanted to be a positive influence in the lives of children. Once I started my classroom experiences, I knew that this is my mission in life.”


Bowsher has worked hard over the years to provide a variety of experiences for her students. Last year she was involved in Bigelow Hills school musical The Jungle Book and plans on participating again this year. When she worked at Washington Elementary she was involved in starting a new program called Ohio Explorers. The Ohio Explorers was a group of Washington students who took Saturday field trips together outside of Findlay to build background knowledge and experiences.


She has been married to her husband David for 27 years, and has two sons: Eric - a graduate of University of Cincinnati, and Kyle - in his last year at Ohio University

She enjoy traveling, scrapbooking, golfing, reading, attending musical theater productions, and especially spending time with family and friends.
