LDE stands for Leadership Development Event. These are competitive events in FFA that help members develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and career-readiness skills through real-world activities and contests.
Competitions for LDEs are typically held during the fall and winter and allow members to compete at the district, regional, state, and national levels.

There are several public speaking events, including:
Prepared Public Speaking – Give a speech on an agriculture-related topic that you wrote yourself.
Extemporaneous Public Speaking – Draw a topic, prepare for a short time, then give a speech.
Employment Skills – Complete a job application, interview, and communication activities.
Parliamentary Procedure – Demonstrate meeting and speaking skills using parliamentary law.
