Kyte Learning is the Fife School District's official partner for providing an online library of EdTech training modules for teachers, administrators, and classified staff. The courses in Kyte Learning are for personal professional learning in the areas of instructional technology and software skills development and may even be counted towards certificate staff members' seven (7) hours of paid technology instruction. Courses fall into two categories:
HOW-TO: Step-by-step coursework that helps you develop and deepen your skillset using a particular software application or EdTech tool
IMPLEMENTATION: Courses focused on helping you implement a software application or EdTech tool into into your classes or instructional sequence
Go to the Kyte Learning website at www.kytelearning.com
Click the "Log in" button in the upper-right corner
Click "Sign in with Google" and select your fifeschools.com account
Search for courses and start taking them!
You are free to take any courses that are of interest to you or you feel would be beneficial in your practice provided they are technology-related learning. Non-technology courses, such as a course on blood-borne pathogens, would not qualify. When you log in, you will notice the Kyte Learning Library has three sections: Courses, Collections, and Fife Public Schools. You are NOT limited to only those courses under Fife Public Schools - in fact, right now there are none. Moving forward, this is a section that is reserved for specific courses we might want to highlight for our staff, and it is also where our own courses will reside. The Collections section is a curated group of related courses around a particular larger topic, such as achieving Google Certifications.
Certificated staff may use Kyte Learning courses as part of their seven (7) hours of paid technology instruction. Here is more information to get you started, including how to request a timesheet to be paid.
At the end of each course, there is a short competency assessment where you can earn a Certificate of Achievement and a digital badge for scoring 80% or higher. Please note: You may only get paid for courses where you have earned the Certificate of Achievement.
Timesheets can be submitted in quarter-hour increments only, such as .25, .50, .75, 1.0, 1.25, 1.50, 1.75, etc.
Do not combine multiple courses on one line. Please list only ONE course per line on the timesheet, using the exact Kyte Learning course title, even if the line ends up not corresponding exactly with your date of completion.
You do NOT need to send certificates of completion with your timesheet.
Timesheets submitted in one month will typically be paid the following month. Ex. If you submit a tech hours timesheet during September, you should expect to see the pay show up in your October paycheck.
The ISTE Seal of Alignment program reviews and recognizes resources for their alignment to the ISTE Standards. Products and services submitted to the program undergo a rigorous review by a panel of standards experts and are evaluated based on the extent to which they build the skills embodied in the ISTE standards indicators.
