Accessibility Items and user guide for the 3D Theaters
Captiview
The Captiview device displays the words being spoken during the film for those who are hearing impaired. The device is mountable to the seat armrest so that the guest does not need to hold the viewer. The staff member at the 3D theater should mount the viewer on the armrest for the guest and set the device to begin when the movie starts. The staff member should also retrieve the device after the movie and return it to the charging closet after usage.
The device turns on with a switch located on the side of the device. After the device turns on, a menu displays on screen. Choose the auditorium by pressing the “A” button underneath the menu options for the correct auditorium and then press the “C” button to connect. The wording will read that “Connecting to Auditorium #X” then it will state “Captiview is ready”. Ward Hall is auditorium #1 and James Simpson is Auditorium #2.
There are 32 auditorium channels listed so you need to scroll past all the auditoriums or turn the device off and then on again to start at #1.
The device should then connect and start showing the words on screen once the movie starts playing. Prior to the movie starting the Captiview device will
Hearing Loop
The hearing loop is a permanently installed assistive listening system installed in Ward Hall. The system is always on and designed for a guest with a T-Coil equipped hearing aid. In order to utilize this feature the guest would switch their hearing aid to the T-Coil setting. Since the broadcast is always on the guest does not need to confer with a Guest Relations staff member.
Hearing Amplifiers
There are two different hearing amplifiers at the theaters that work in different ways.
We have an amplifier in both theaters that sends a signal to a receiver that the guest wears on a clip to their shirt that converts the signal into sound. This sound goes into a corded single earphone that a guest wears. This item is available in both theaters and the correct input channel must be chosen to receive the audio signal.
You must choose the correct theater setting (Channel) in order for the receiver to pick up the correct signal.
First press down the power button located on the top of the receiver. The display on the front will list volume and channel. To change the volume press the up or down buttons. To change the channel hold both the up and down buttons simultaneously for three seconds and the channel letter will appear. Use the up or down button to change the channel. Once the correct channel appears tap the power button to select. Channel #A is for Ward Hall and Channel #C is for James Simpson Theater.
Once the movie starts the amplified sound will be received in the earpiece. After the guest has returned the item use the alcohol and rag to clean the earpiece.
There is also a hearing loop lanyard for use a James Simpson that takes the sound from the hearing amplifier, runs it through the lanyard and turns the lanyard into a personal hearing loop. The guest can then set their hearing aid to T-Coil mode to receive amplified sounds. It is only necessary to use this lanyard at James Simpson since Ward Hall is prewired for T-Coil use.
