Teachers

Mrs. Conroy

Welcome to all of you! I am excited to begin another year of working in fifth grade with some wonderful students and parents. Time does fly by as I am reminded that this is my 22nd year in the Forest Hills School District!! I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of grade levels. My previous experiences include opening Knapp Forest teaching third grade and working with 5th and 6th graders at Northern Trails. Before moving to Michigan, I had a wonderful time teaching third grade and Kindergarten in Colorado. (Go Broncos!) Another memorable experience was living and teaching English to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders in Japan.

I enjoy running in the sunshine, hiking in the Rockies, and traveling. My husband, Larry, and I have two children. Eric graduated from Ferris State and is working as a golf pro. Colleen just graduated from Michigan (go Blue!) and is working on grad school.

I will be teaching Social Studies to two classes and will also be working with all the 5th graders as we flexibly group Math and Language Arts. The fifth grade teachers will be collaborating and coordinating many team activities. The Conroy Crew team color is yellow and we ROCK! I’m looking forward to some good times!!

Mr. Greenlee

Greetings everyone, it’s so great to be back in the classroom with this great group of students. This is my 8th year teaching at Knapp Forest, and my 15th year of teaching overall. Prior to arriving at Forest Hills, I taught 4th Grade for 7 years at St. Andrew’s School in the heart of Grand Rapids. I have a deep love of all things “geeky” (comic books, Star Wars, etc.) and I am a loyal Detroit Lions fan (which has been incredibly painful). Outside of school I stay very busy with my three children; Bella (9), Madalyn (6), and Aiden (almost 5).

I love science! I will be teaching it to both classes this year and I hope to spread that enthusiasm. When those spirit days roll around, make sure your child is dressed in our team color. Naturally, the Greenlee Gang’s color is...red! Sorry, Mrs. Martin beat me to green:( I’m looking forward to a great year together.

Mrs. Martin

I can’t wait to get to know you. But first, let me tell you a little bit about me. I am 40 years old, and have been married for almost fifteen years. My family includes my husband, Tim, our seven-year-old son Bentley, our five-year-old daughter Molly, our sixteen-month-old son Rhett, and our cocker spaniels, Buffy and Sable. I have two brothers, named Dan and Matt, and one sister, named Holly. Matt is my twin. And, guess what, he teaches in the room next door. That’s right, I’ll be team teaching again this year with my twin brother Mr. Matt Meyer. Get ready for some family fun, and be sure to let your parents in on our little secret!

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My favorite book is Number the Stars and my favorite food is macaroni and cheese.

Mr. Meyer

I am looking forward to another great year in fifth grade. Before we begin, allow me just a moment to introduce myself. I’m a former left fielder for the Chicago White Sox. All right, that’s a lie. I do love the White Sox though. I am 40 and have been married for a little over fifteen years. My wife, Annie, and my daughter Josie and son Jack in a home not too far from school. I have a younger brother Dan (Bro Dan), and a younger sister Holly. My other sister, Heather, is my twin. This year marks our fifteenth year teaching together and my nineteenth year in Forest Hills.

In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. My favorite book is The Westing Game, and my favorite hobby is collecting Air Jordan shoes! I have been a sneakerhead for quite a few years now and my family would tell you that I have become a little obsessed with “kicks.” You may even see me teaching in a pair or two this year. Thank you in advance for your partnership in education this school year. I am excited for a great fifth grade school year.

Ms. Morisette

My name is Ms. Morisette and I am the new resource room teacher this year at Knapp Forest Elementary. In addition to being a new member of the Knapp Forest staff, I am also new to the Grand Rapids area. I recently moved from Novi, Michigan which is located between Detroit and Ann Arbor. I am very excited to start the new school year and I can’t wait to get to know all of you!

I am a graduate of Michigan State University (Go Green!) where I earned a degree in Education with certifications in Special Education and Elementary Education. This past year, I student taught at Huron Valley Schools in a third grade classroom and in a resource room at the middle school level. Following my student teaching, I finished the year as a long-term substitute in an art classroom.

During the summer, I LOVE to travel and explore new places. A few years ago, I traveled to China and taught in elementary schools in Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing. It was such a fun and exciting experience! I tried new foods, learned some of the language and climbed the Great Wall of China. I also enjoy spending time at our family cottage in Northern Michigan. My family and I like to spend time on the water either fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding or cruising on the boat. In addition to traveling, I love spending time reading and hanging out with my adorable dogs, Jack and Holly.
