Lecture Summary:
Theological and Practical Foundations of Offering and Tithing
This session explored the spiritual significance of offerings and the transformative power of "Whole Tithing" within the faith community. Drawing from the teachings of True Parents and biblical examples, the lecture emphasized that offerings are not merely financial transactions but acts of devotion that connect the believer to the vertical grace of the Heavenly Parent.
Key Theological Concepts
The Meaning of Offering: Offering is defined as a sincere devotion directed upward from the believer to God. It is characterized as Charis (Grace), reflecting a grateful response to the blessings received from Heavenly Parent and True Parents.
Whole Tithing: Tithing is described as a "life-line" or umbilical cord that connects a believer's life and assets to God. By offering exactly ten percent (10%), the remaining ninety percent is sanctified and regarded as holy.
Biblical and Providential Roots: The lecture cites the examples of Abraham offering a tenth to Melchizedek and Jacob’s vow at Bethel as foundational models for acknowledging God as the true owner of all material success.
The 7-Month "Jultak Dongsi" Project
Participants were introduced to a specific spiritual discipline designed to revitalize local churches and individual lives:
Project Requirements: For a period of seven months (approximately 30 weeks), participants must commit to two conditions:
Strict Whole Tithing: Offering an exact 10% of all income without exception or delay.
Perfect Attendance: Attending every Sunday service and Friday prayer vigil without fail.
Expected Outcomes: The project aims to balance "Heavenly Providence" with "Human Responsibility." The speaker shared testimonies from churches in Iksan and Cheonwon, noting that such disciplined devotion leads to financial stability, spiritual growth, and increased community outreach.
Practical Application and Sincerity
Avoiding "Hidden Tithing": Believers were cautioned against deceiving the Heavenly Parent by misrepresenting income or using tithing funds for other charitable purposes; tithing must be directed to one's local church.
The Spirit of Devotion: The lecture concluded by emphasizing that the "Heart of Devotion" (Jeongseong) is the most critical element. Offerings should be prepared with blood, sweat, and tears, symbolizing the offering of one's entire life to God.
