Level 2

I painted an old medical textbook of the human heart and brain held up by hands with strings. I was inspired by my grandfather’s old medical textbooks. I tried to make the canvas look like old paper so I thinned out yellow and brown paints to create a faded and yellowed look. I then sketched out the hands, brain, and heart. I started painting the hands first with a tan color that I mixed and then moved onto the heart with different shades of red and blue. Then I painted the brain with shades of brown and red and then followed with the strings in a metallic silver paint. Once I was done with the painting I decided to add the text of “The Human Body” and “Figure No. 23” to add some detail and add to the effect of a textbook. I think this was my favorite project this semester because just like my grandfather, I want to go into medicine so it also expressed my own interest as well.
