Gabriella Kiel

I chose a portrait for my final project because painting people has been something I’ve always struggled with. This year my projects and sketches focused a lot around trying to depict people of all different ethnicities and genders. I have been wanting to expand my abilities to realistic and surrealistic depictions of actual people. It is definitely still a skill that I need to develop, but I have learned a lot about portraying people in art. My final project helped me learn a lot about color theory and how to show different skin tones and shadows in portraits. The whole painting was a learning process in itself.
