Involving children and educational practitioners
The section dedicated to engaging with children and educational practitioners is divided into three distinct components:
Conducting Research with Children: A Participatory Toolkit
The ySKILLS Education Toolkit
A Panel Discussion with Educational Practitioners
CONDUCTING RESEARCH WITH CHILDREN
Bieke Zaman introduced a participatory toolkit that narrates the ySKILLS research story in a language accessible to children. This toolkit was collaboratively developed with children and encompasses a briefing along with guidelines.
"While designed as a hands-on resource for children and young people, the value of this toolkit extends far beyond. Educators, teachers, and stakeholders serve as crucial intermediaries, tasked with not only navigating the toolkit's contents but also fostering profound group dialogues on the subject of digital skills."
FOR FURTHER INFORMATION
Kindly explore the participatory toolkit, which includes a Toolkit briefing and a PowerPoint presentation complete with speaker notes, available in various languages. You can access these resources on the ySKILLS Resources page.

THE ySKILLS EDUCATION TOOLKIT
Cristina Ponte discussed the development process of the educational toolkit, highlighting its foundation on ySKILLS concepts, tools, and findings. This effort involved consulting both children and teachers as part of the exploitation activity.
“The challenge of translating ySKILLS concepts and findings into practical activities for non-academic audiences, alongside consultations with adolescents and teachers, played a pivotal role in shaping the dynamics of this exploitation activity. It stands as an inspiring model for the collaborative development of future content.”

PANEL DISCUSSION WITH EDUCATIONAL PRACTITIONERS
The panel, moderated by Verónica Donoso, featured the participation of Andy de Meulenaere, Cristina Ponte, Jacek Pyzalski and Veronika Kalmus. During the panel discussion, they focused on the importance of education in improving adolescents' digital skills.
"Experts concur that collaboration among the formal education system, the private sector, and the research community holds the promise of enhancing digital skills education. It is imperative for all pertinent stakeholders to partake in a synchronised endeavour, aiming to establish a systematic approach to the development of digital skills. This approach ensures equitable access to essential infrastructure and high-quality education for all."
