Following the Parkland tragedy, FCPS organized a community meeting to discuss school safety on March 13, 2018.

FCPS administrators and student leaders joined community leaders including law enforcement, elected officials, and community partners for a conversation that included assessing our current practices and identifying actions to implement.

The morning included status updates from the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office and the Mental Health Association of Fauquier. It was then that our student leaders learned that over 400 FCPS staff members had been trained in YMHFA. They were impressed with that accomplishment, but posed a critical question that led to the purple lanyards:
