work permits

**NOTE** - Effective July 29, 2014, the process for obtaining a work permit has changed. It is no longer necessary for you to come to the school to have your work permit issued by an authorized officer. You may complete your application online, print it, and have a parent/guardian verify your birthdate. Click on the link below to begin this new process.

In Maryland, as a teen, (minor between the ages of 14 and 17), once you have been offered employment you are required to have a Minor Work Permit before you can begin work. Teens cannot apply for a Work Permit until they have gotten a job offer. This is because the application for a Work Permit required details from the employer, including the proposed occupation and work description.

To review more information about Work permits you can visit the State of Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation Website (DLLR)
