Course Description

This course examines the impact of financial literacy and technology within the agricultural industry. Students will explore an overview of agricultural leadership, animal science, plants, agricultural engineering and environmental and natural resource management. A semester long project encompasses all areas of agricultural science with an emphasis on financial literacy as it relates to agricultural business. This course satisfies one of three required credits for the Animal Science or Horticulture Completer programs AND meets Personal Financial Literacy requirement.

Student Course Objectives Overview:

Examine financial literacy as it applies to agricultural business and Supervised Agricultural Experience.
Assess the relevance of agricultural science to the individual, society and the environment
Model problem solving and critical thinking skills through agricultural experiences and examples.
Support STEM goals through applied agricultural science and technology
Design a plan for college and career readiness in agricultural sciences
Interpret agricultural terminology through agricultural applications
Support and apply leadership opportunities in agricultural science through National FFA Organization involvement.

Intro to Ag Science: Personalized, Blended, & PBL

Teacher-led Instruction still exists!!!

What could a rotation look like in AG Science?

Single Class period

- 10 minute warm-up
- (3) 25 minute station rotations
- 5 Minute Closure

3 Days rotation (Example of Group A / Could have 3 teams)

- - Day 1 - working online or practicing on a concept
  - Day 2 - rotate to teacher lead instruction
  - Day 3 - rotate to their collaborative or PBL Activity

What would the rotations be?
1. Teacher Direct Instruction - Terms, Answering Questions, & Explaining Difficult Concepts.
2. A collaborate PBL activity/case study where students work in groups.
3. Online instruction or practice of a concept. A playlist that would be personalized.
