Math at BCES

Be Here, Be You , Belong

Welcome to our BCES Math site. We are very excited to share with you the amazing math thinking and instruction happening throughout our building.

Our Goals:

  • Highlight some of the great thinking and hard work by our BCES students.

  • Share ideas and resources of things you can do with your child at home to extend their math thinking.

  • Provide video clips of strategies that we are teaching.

  • Challenge Tasks for students looking for extra math practice.

Michelle Lebo

Math Specialist

Hi! My name is Michelle Lebo. I'm beginning my 24th year of teaching, and they've all been at B.C.E.S. I taught second grade for 9 years, fifth grade for 7 years, and most recently I've taken on the job of Math Specialist. I grew up in Frederick County going through the Walkersville feeder system. I spent two years at FCC and received my Early Childhood Associates Degree. Then, I transferred to Mount Saint Mary's where I received my BS in Elementary Education. I am highly qualified to teach in grades 1-6 and middle school. I continued on at the Mount and received my Master's in Instructional Technology. I have most recently completed my endorsement as a Math Specialist through the Maryland Department of Education. I truly believe that we never stop learning.

I love our school community and know we will all work together to make Math a priority. Mrs. Kearney and I love teaching math together at the Creek! Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, concerns, or celebrations!

Lindsey Kearney

Math Intervention Teacher

My name is Lindsey Kearney. This is my 10th year at BCES but my first as a Math Intervention teacher. I taught third grade for 3 years and fifth grade for 5 years before changing to this position.

I graduated from Mount Saint Mary's with my BS in Elementary Education. I continued my education at the Mount and received my Master's in Instructional Technology. I am currently completing my internship for an endorsement as a Math Specialist through the Maryland Department of Education.

I loved teaching all subjects as a classroom teacher, but out of all the subjects, math has always been my favorite, so I am excited to be a Math Intervention Teacher working with many grade levels and amazing kids and teachers.

I am very fortunate to work alongside Ms. Lebo and have learned so much from her in my time here at BCES.
