3rd Grade

District Wide 3rd Grade Testing this month (November)

This month, 3rd graders are taking the CogAT and IOWA assessements. These assessments are given district wide to 3rd graders to screen for possible gifted and talented identification as outlined below.

General Intellectual-CogAT

Specific Academics - district wide academic aptitude testing takes place annually for all 3rd graders in the areas of  reading, math, science, and social studies (IOWA)

Math and science

• Encourage Critical Thinking-Promote problem-solving and critical thinking skills through open-ended questions and discussions. Encourage them to think deeply about complex issues and engage in debates.

• Promote Independence- Teach your child to take responsibility for their learning and manage their time effectively. Encourage them to set goals and work toward achieving them.
