Students are encouraged to accept their Counseling, College and Career Readiness Canvas Course invitation to assist with postsecondary planning. The grade-level courses include college planning, career exploration, student opportunity, and scholarship/financial aid modules as well as grade-level meeting presentations and announcements.
Take your postsecondary planning to the next level with Elevate. Elevate is your one stop shop for capturing critical moments and experiences helping students to align their postsecondary plans to th FCPS Portrait of a Graduate. Be sure to take advantage of Elevate's Pathful Explore Career and College Central to assist with college and career exploration.
Looking to get a head start on your college and career planning? Frederick Douglass High School offers a variety of exciting events throughout the year to help you explore your options! These events are open to Frederick Douglass High School and Carter G. Woodson Academy high school students.
Here's what you can expect:
CCR Cafe: Talk directly with college representatives, employers, and community partners on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month during lunch at CCR Mondays in the Cafe. No appointments needed! Just stop by and chat!
Experience the Real World: Embark on Expedition Fridays to explore colleges and organizations firsthand! These trips happen on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month.
Register for Rep Visits, Workshops & Tours: Gain valuable insights through Rep Visits/Small Group Workshops on topics like college exploration, applications, financial aid, and career skills. Unless otherwise specified, all rep visits are held in the Library and small group workshops are held in the CCR Center (E207).
Go Behind the Scenes: Take off-site Campus/Industry Tours to discover exciting career paths. Be sure to pick up permission forms beforehand!
Spots fill up fast, so register early! Registration typically closes at noon the day before Rep Visits and 2 weeks before off-site tours. You'll receive confirmation emails with details about attending class during these events.
