New CCR Event Registration Process
The College and Career Readiness (CCR) event registration process is now easier than ever! Simply visit bit.ly/CCREvents to access the CCR Event overview and register for upcoming events. Registration is currently open and events will begin in September! Spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so check back frequently for updates.
2024-2025 CCR Pathfinder Application Now Open
Are you a leader with a desire to help others? Apply to be a CCR Pathfinder! Pathfinders are a select group of students who receive training on college and career readiness topics and share this information with their peers. This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills, knowledge, and earn community service hours. Visit bit.ly/CCRPathfinders to learn more and apply!
FDHS Dual Credit Reminder
If you requested a Fall 2024 Dual Credit Course, be sure to check your email and complete your remaining fall registration tasks. Class visits have been conducted throughout the week and will continue to be conducted next week to address student questions, concerns, and provide additional assistance. Be sure to review the Fall Dual Credit Checklist at bit.ly/FDHSDCCheck or your Canvas course(s) to stay on top of add/drop and withdrawal deadlines. Remember that your first week assignments must be completed on time, failure to do so will result in you being dropped from the course. If you have questions, request an appointment with Mrs. Jones at bit.ly/fdhsrequestcounselor. Appointment requests are being reviewed and scheduled as soon as possible.

FCPS College & Career Fair (October 15th): All seniors will participate in the morning fair. Report to the auditorium at 9:30 am to prepare for departure. We will return to school by 12:15 pm. More information will be provided during advisory visits on October 9th and 10th. Be sure to turn in your permission slip. Additional forms are available in the College & Career Center (E207).

The Online Application for Craft Academy Class of 2027 has now opened!!!
Here is a quick refresher of what we offer, as well as some changes to our program:
The Craft Academy at Morehead State University is a Residential, Dual Credit program. For your Junior and Senior years of high school, you would live on the MSU campus, taking college courses and getting a head start on the career or education you want to pursue. This is 2 years of college, for FREE. There are options ranging from getting an Associate's Degree, to starting the Nursing Program on a direct track.
There is even the opportunity for further scholarships past the initial 2 years. We have multiple students having their schooling paid for, ranging from places like the University of Kentucky all the way to Harvard University.
What are our requirements?
These have actually changed some!
Students must be a Sophomore in High School to apply.
Students need to have taken Geometry, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2 by the end of their Sophomore year.
Students need to have taken either the ACT or SAT.
Fill out an Online Application.
Finish our changed Supplemental Items Packet. This now consists of a Cover Letter, and 2 Letters of Recommendation. (The Letters or Recommendation cannot be done by family or friends.)

Northern Kentucky University Office of Admissions would like to help those students unable to visit our campus or who may have questions by hosting an Open House in Lexington on Thursday, September 26th. The Open House will take place at the Holiday Inn - Hamburg from 6pm to 8pm. We will bring faculty and staff from across campus to give students more insight into being a NKU student. Light food and refreshments will be provided. If any of you are available, we would also love to have you attend! Registration is required so please register at the link below.
The University of Kentucky, Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment (UK M-G CAFE), and Office of Diversity (OOD), in collaboration with our Center for Student Success, have partnered together to host the 3rd Annual Ag is for All Conference. Our conference is open to all, and we strive to reach 25-50 underserved and underrepresented high school students across the Commonwealth with a vested interest in being a prospective student in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment.
The goal of the Ag is for All Conference is to help students applying to college – specifically UK M-G CAFE – apply for and access scholarships, complete FAFSA forms, and encourage faculty and student engagement while in attendance.

Every year we host an Outstanding Youth Contest where youth ages 14-19 years old compete for prize money by delivering a 2-minute speech on any topic in agriculture or anything related to Farm Bureau. If they win, the student will compete at the Kentucky Farm Bureau fifth district competition with the possibility to move on to the state competition to compete for more prize money and a trip to Washington D.C.
This year’s local contest will be held on September 23 at 6:30 pm at the Fayette County Extension Office. Here is the link to the application https://fayettecofarmbureau.com/news/elementor-5410/. We are excited to kick-off our FDHS/CGWA College & Career Readines (CCR) Events in September. Students are encouraged to visit bit.ly/CCREvents to view and register for upcoming opportunities. The registration form allows scholars to register for the following programs:
Rep Visits/Small Group Workshops: Rep Visits include college, employer, and community program inforamtion sessions. Small group workshops are held in the CCR Center (E207) and are designed for students who are interested in seeking assistance with college/career exploration, postsecondary planning, college applications, scholarships/financial aid, essential career skills.
Expedition Fridays: Take students on an exploration of your institution or organization on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month. This is a great opportunity for students to gain firsthand experience with what you have to offer.
Campus/Industry Tours: Off-site campus/industry tours. Students must pick-up permission forms from E207 in addition to registering for the event(s).
CCR Cafe: Held on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month during lunch (11:45 AM - 1:45 PM), this program provides students with a chance to learn about college, employer, and/or community opportunities or seek advising from their College and Career Coach in a casual cafeteria setting. Registration is not required for the CCR Cafe.
Unless otherwise specified rep visits will be held in the FDHS Library and small group workshops and help sessions will be held in the CCR Center in E207. Rep visits are capped at 40 students, small group sessions are capped at 8 students, and campus/industry tours are capped at 30 students.
These events are a great way to explore and research college and career opportunities. Registration for rep visits will close at noon the day before scheduled visits and off-site tours/visit registration will close 1-2 weeks before the scheduled off-site event. Confirmation emails will be sent to students who have successfully registered and received an event slot. These students will receive passes during advisory classes to be released from class. Although students are excused for CCR events, please keep in mind that students are responsible for missed class and instruction. The Tech Association of the Bluegrass is excited to invite you, and your students, to UndrCvr Lex on September 26th from 5:30p – 7:30p at The Cornerstone on UK Campus! Registration for attendees is free and pizza will be provided.
UndrCvr Lex is a great opportunity for students to network with key players and companies in the community, specifically those in the technology, marketing, and design fields. As you know, building a personal network will repeatedly pay dividends over the years so you never know what internships, job opportunities, or simply connecting with folks with similar career interests will bring. New this year is a series of sessions designed to address the challenges and opportunities in the tech industry, with topics ranging from networking and connecting to sustainable tech career practices.

This is the second of a series of career panels featuring professionals in high-demand/high-growth careers corresponding with the Grow with Google Professional Career Certificate Program.

Spy Coast Farm is excited to announce a new family friendly community outreach event called EquiConnect: Community Equine Day. This event will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 1-5 p.m. at the Spy Coast Farm Equine Education Center. This opportunity will connect the local community to resources available within the equine industry. There will be a FREE community meal starting at 1 p.m., hands-on learning activities, live horse demonstrations, crafts and face painting and local non-profit organizations and companies will have tables set up to provide information about resources they can offer. Everyone is welcome to attend!
Objectives of the EquiConnect: Community Equine Day include:
Connecting the local community to the Central Kentucky equine industry and local community resources
Educating the local community to equine related resources related to therapy, education and workforce development
Showcasing potential equine industry career pathways for employment within the industry

The 2024 Youth Salute application is now open for all juniors. Check out the requirements and link to apply below.
In order to be eligible for this program, students must:
Be a high school junior (senior class of 2026).
Have at least a cumulative 3.0 G.P.A. through their sophomore year. (Any student who attains a 3.0 G.P.A. by the end of the fall semester of their junior year may submit a late nomination by January 15th, 2025.)
Have held TWO LEADERSHIP ROLES to which they were chosen by their peers or an adult leader within the past two years in school, religious or community sponsored organizations.
Students must participate in each of the following activities:
Completion of the online application form.
Virtual orientation for information about the program, photography session and photographic displays.
Be photographed by Holifield Photography for school banner as well as regional media recognition.
Attendance at the Leadership Seminar & Awards Ceremony co-sponsored by Asbury University, Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Eastern Kentucky University, Georgetown College and Transylvania University.

We are excited to invite your senior and junior students to Honors Preview Day at Western Kentucky University on November 11, 2024! This event is a great opportunity for students to explore the Mahurin Honors College, meet current honors scholars, and learn how we support academic excellence and leadership development, and attend a mini-honors class to see what we're all about. We recognize some school districts may be closed in observance of Veterans Day, but not all, so we don't want to encourage students to skip school for the event.

Summer Youth Job Training Program (SYJTP) provides workforce training opportunities for Lexington youth who are rising 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade high school students by teaming with Lexington’s business and community-based partners. Youth workers will work part-time, up to 20 hours per week, and earn $15 per hour. To follow the goals of providing youth with real-life work experience and workforce training, SYJTP requires the following for priority work placements:

Verification Clinic – April 2025 (New hire paperwork, direct deposit accounts, and verification documents required)

UK College of Medicine 120 in 365:
We are reaching out to share an exciting opportunity that the University of Kentucky College of Medicine has for any of your high school students who may be interested in pursuing a career in medicine. Our 120 in 365 Zoom-based info sessions are starting back up again this year and we would love for you to share this information with any of your allied health, science, or math teachers, as well as students you know who aspire to become a physician. These online meetings and presentations occur several times a month and aim to make medical education more accessible by showing prospective students realistic paths to a medical degree.
