What are your top three priorities for enhancing economic growth opportunities throughout Spring Lake?
Spring Lake’s economic future depends on bold collaboration, strategic partnerships, and a relentless commitment to unlocking opportunity for every resident. My top three priorities for enhancing economic growth begin with forging strong alliances across regional institutions. By working hand-in-hand with the Spring Lake and Fayetteville Chambers of Commerce, as well as the Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation, we can create a unified economic vision that attracts new businesses, supports local entrepreneurs, and positions Spring Lake as a hub for innovation and investment. Second, we must tap into the immense potential of our educational institutions. Partnering with local universities and community colleges will allow us to build workforce pipelines, expand job training programs, and connect students directly to emerging industries. These partnerships will not only prepare our youth for high-demand careers but also attract employers seeking skilled talent. Third, we must engage with state-level bodies—including the North Carolina General Assembly and neighboring municipalities—to secure funding, advocate for infrastructure improvements, and ensure Spring Lake has a seat at the table in shaping regional policy. Economic growth doesn’t happen in isolation—it’s built through relationships, vision, and action. By aligning our local strengths with broader resources, we can transform Spring Lake into a thriving, resilient, and opportunity-rich community.
What are the most pressing issues facing the Town of Spring Lake, and how will you work to solve them?
Spring Lake stands at a crossroads—and the decisions we make now will define our future. Our residents are carrying a tax burden that’s simply unsustainable, especially for families on fixed incomes and seniors who’ve spent their lives contributing to this community. Rising property taxes are not just numbers on a bill—they’re barriers to affordable housing, deterrents to new residents, and red flags for potential investors. We must act decisively to stabilize our tax base, audit spending, and pursue smart growth strategies that ease the financial strain while laying the groundwork for long-term prosperity. At the same time, our aging water infrastructure is failing the very people it’s meant to serve. Clean drinking water is not a luxury—it’s a basic human right. The frequent breakdowns, costly repairs, and health concerns are eroding public trust and placing undue stress on families. We must prioritize infrastructure investment, leveraging state and federal resources to modernize our systems and ensure safe, reliable access for every household. Finally, we need a bold economic vision that doesn’t just patch holes—it builds opportunity. That means revitalizing our downtown, supporting local entrepreneurs, and attracting industries that bring good-paying jobs to working families. It means creating a town where young people want to stay, where businesses want to grow, and where every resident feels seen, supported, and empowered.
What makes you the best candidate to represent the Town of Spring Lake?
Public service isn’t just a role—it’s my way of life. As a lifelong resident of Spring Lake, a homeowner, raising my son here, and a woman of faith, I understand the needs that matter most to our families. From clean drinking water and reliable infrastructure to safe neighborhoods and strong schools with positive education, I’m committed to building a community where everyone can thrive.
As an educator and someone who works closely with our military families, I’ve seen the power of service and the importance of investing in people. I believe in supporting our youth, honoring our seniors, and standing firmly behind those who serve.
But we also need a bold, forward-looking strategy for economic growth. That means revitalizing our local economy, attracting new businesses, and creating jobs that support working families. It also means stabilizing our tax base—so we can fund essential services without placing undue burden on homeowners.
Spring Lake is my home. I’m not just working for change—I’m living it, every day, alongside you. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous future.
