What are your top three priorities for enhancing economic growth opportunities throughout Spring Lake?
Economic growth in Spring Lake depends on building a strong foundation for investment and creating opportunities that benefit both residents and businesses. My first priority is improving infrastructure to support growth. Reliable water, sewer, and stormwater systems are essential for attracting and retaining businesses. We are already making progress with millions of dollars in funding secured for system repairs and upgrades. Continued investment in infrastructure ensures that Spring Lake is ready to support commercial development and new housing opportunities.
My second priority is leveraging partnerships and grants to bring new resources into Spring Lake. We are actively pursuing state and federal funding, including reapplying for the Rural Transformation Grant, and working with regional partners to expand economic opportunities. Public-private partnerships also create room for innovation, from naming rights on public facilities to cooperative investments in town projects. Events like First Friday on Main showcase how business and community engagement can go hand in hand to draw visitors and stimulate commerce.
My third priority is addressing housing and blight. More than 100 blighted properties have been identified, and restoring them to productive use will stabilize neighborhoods and open the door for new investment. Expanding affordable housing options will also give more families the opportunity to live, work, and thrive in Spring Lake.

What makes you the best candidate to represent the Town of Spring Lake?
I believe I am the best candidate to represent Spring Lake because I have a proven record of leadership, accountability, and results. When I first took office, our town was under state financial control and struggling with credibility. Through responsible budgeting and strong oversight, we restored financial stability and returned local control to Spring Lake. That foundation now allows us to focus on the real priorities of residents like safe and reliable services, stronger neighborhoods, and new opportunities for growth.
My leadership style is rooted in accessibility and collaboration. I maintain an open-door policy and host “Lunch with the Mayor” sessions because I believe residents should have direct access to their leaders. Building trust through transparency and communication has been essential to moving Spring Lake forward.
Beyond my role as mayor, I serve as Chairwoman of the Ft. Bragg Regional Land Use Advisory Commission and as a member of the North Carolina Mayors Association board. These roles give me insight into regional planning, military-community partnerships, and state-level policies that directly affect Spring Lake. I bring these perspectives home to ensure our community is represented at every table where decisions are made.
Most importantly, I care deeply about this town and its people. From securing millions in funding for water and sewer repairs, to leading revitalization projects on Main Street, to improving our parks and recreation spaces, my focus has always been on delivering results that improve the quality of life for residents. I am committed to continuing this work, ensuring accountability in government, and leading Spring Lake into a future where our community is stronger, safer, and full of opportunity.
