Sport
Pupils are provided with the opportunity to take part in a number of different activities through lessons and extra curricular sessions. They will have 1 double and 1 single lesson and a fixture afternoon a week throughout the year. Lessons are based around participation, enjoyment and the development of skills. Pupils are encouraged to maintain a good level of personal fitness. Those who show a high level of ability in any activity are encouraged to join local clubs and trial at County level. The course is completely practical; basic skills are reinforced and tactical play in game situations is taught.

How will I be assessed?
Practical skills will be assessed as well as discussion and awareness of game play, tactics and strategies. The performance and its application will be assessed.
Each half term, students take part in several assessments:
Peer Assessment
Teacher Assessment
Self Assessment
The peer assessments form part of the practice process and aims to give students ideas on what works and what needs refining.
The teacher assessment is the formal assessment of the term, which is through a match play showing skills and techniques learnt during the topic.
Self-assessment is reflection on their own performance where they are able to consider their successes and set targets to move forward.
All students are encouraged that making mistakes is all part of the process, and that sometimes, the best work in performing comes from an unexpected moment.
