Issue 3

Greetings Diplomats –

This is the thirteenth installment of a monthly update where I will provide direct reflections and information on issues facing our student-athletes. The title is a line from the F&M alma mater.

The goal of this piece is not to review specific game results, but to present an insider’s view of current national trends, on-campus happenings and what we can look forward to next.

  • As we enter reading days and final exams there’s no shortage of fun events planned for students. Flapjack Fest and World Cup viewing parties co-hosted by the soccer teams and International Student Advisory Board are just two of the many opportunities for students to relax.

  • The Student-Athlete Leadership Council ratified a new Constitution and conducted elections for the 2023 calendar year. Below are the new officers who will execute the group’s collective goals of creating stronger campus community relationships and enhancing the gameday experience.

What's Next

  • We look forward to competition in the semester break highlighted by wrestling’s trip to the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships hosted by Northwestern University and men’s basketball at the D3 Hoops Classic in Las Vegas.

  • Squash fans can circle the entire month of January. The men’s and women’s teams have no away matches, hosting 6 contests in Mayser to start the new year!
