PUPIL COMMENTS
How do we ensure this happens for all learners?
Personalisation and Choice
Individual learner conversations take place throughout the year which all pupils to discuss their progress within subject areas. Conversations with pastoral staff also look at progress across the curriculum and pupils are encouraged to highlight areas of strength and determine supports required to make further progress.
Where appropriate, young people have opportunities to choose how to tackle tasks and present work. This allows them to demonstrate their learning.
Pupil Voice
Pupil voice is at the centre of ensuring we provide an excellent pupil learning experience. Key to this, are strong relationships between pupils, staff and families where young people are able to share their thoughts on their learning experience. These relationships are embedded in the ethos of the school and ensure that pupils are having regular conversations with staff around their learning that leads to positive outcomes.
Examples of Effective Practice
Learners are confident to approach their teacher or peers for help when necessary
Learners have the opportunity to co-create their learning - including LI and SC
Learners have the opportunity to engage in pupil-led learning
Learners have opportunities for choice and collaboration
At Braes we have both junior and senior pupil councils who are consulted on all aspects of school life. In addition, they have the opportunity to bring forward any areas of concern or improvement.
In addition our self evaluation leaders look at learning and teaching and provide sessions for staff, parents and pupils on areas of strength and further development.
Faculties and departments seek pupil views on all aspects of the work within the school. Changes are made to learning as a result of these. Examples of this can be found in the sharing good practice tab below.
