💡Sparking Curiosity Through Inquiry in Elementary Math and Science with Online Simulations (Introduction Gr 4-6)
Inspire students to think like mathematicians and scientists using Gizmos online simulations. In this introductory session, you'll explore the major features of Gizmos simulations and demonstrate how they can support classroom instruction through models and inquiry practices. Participate in an interactive lesson activity, take away best practices for teaching with online simulations, explore curriculum-aligned resources and discuss how they support students in meeting the Alberta learning outcomes.

Develop a deeper understanding of how Gizmos online simulations and resources can support your curriculum and learn effective ways to integrate the resources for whole group and small group instruction. This next level session will show you how to get the most from the Gizmos resources by making intentional instructional decisions. Begin to develop customized lessons for your learners that align to Alberta science and math curriculum and integrate practical strategies for teaching with online simulations.

🚀Blast Off to Mars: A Coding Adventure with the Programmable Rover (Introduction Gr 4-6)
Embark on an interactive coding adventure with the Programmable Rover Gizmo. In this introductory session, you’ll experience a hands-on block coding lesson as you guide a rover across Mars—building simple programs to move, turn, jump, and collect samples. Gain a foundational understanding of block coding along with strategies for designing engaging, student-centered lessons that support exploration and learning. You’ll leave with practical, ready-to-use ideas you can implement right away.

🧑🔬Think Like a Scientist: Using Claims, Evidence and Reasoning (Next Level Gr 4-6)
Encourage your students to think like scientists and build their critical thinking skills with the Claims-Evidence-Reasoning (CER). Support students in developing conclusions based on reliable and valid evidence, and help them use this thinking routine to construct scientific explanations. You'll participate in an interactive Gizmos activity to learn practical strategies for using CER in your classroom. You'll also walk away with lesson resources, CER templates, and ideas for applying this approach in other subject areas.

What is Classroom Modeling?
New to Gizmos? Classroom-based modeling provides the opportunity to work collaboratively with an Alberta Gizmos Coach to learn multiple strategies that can be used to incorporate Gizmos into your classroom teaching. This type of professional development is personalized, no-cost, and focuses on the educator's specific needs.
