A Little About Me
This is my 25th year of teaching in East Windsor. I have taught first, second, third, and fifth grades. I am so excited to help children learn how to read as a BSI teacher.
I have two daughters. One is a junior in high school and the other is a freshman in college.
I love all things Disney!
I LOVE to bake, especially cookies! 🍪
Ways to Help Your Child
When reading with your child, encourage them to track with their finger under each word. A common error when first beginning to read is to say the first letter correctly, then guess at the rest of the word. Make sure your child is looking at all of the letters in the word to help them read it.
Practice trick words. These may also be called sight or heart words. These are words that do not follow rules taught in Fundations but are seen often in reading. We will work on which parts of the words do follow the rules, and the parts they need to know by heart. An example is the word "said". The s and d make the correct sounds, but the ai sounds like a short e. That would be the part to learn by heart.
