Dr. Wonyong Park is Associate Professor of Science Education at the Southampton Education School, University of Southampton. His research investigates the role of science and STEM education in fostering disaster-resilient societies amidst local and global crises. He is particularly committed to interdisciplinary approaches that bridge STEM with subjects such as history, citizenship, and religious education. His recent work centres on community-engaged and participatory methods to enhance education about STEM and disasters.

Wonyong serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Research in Science Teaching, Research in Science Education, and the Journal of Hazard Literacy. He recently co-edited a special issue of Science & Education on disaster education. His collaborative projects have involved bereaved families and survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire, the Hillsborough disaster, the 2022 Buffalo Blizzard (USA), and the Sewol Ferry disaster (South Korea), with a shared goal of transforming education for disaster justice. His work has been supported by the Economic and Social Research Council, Research England, the National Science Foundation, and the Grenfell Foundation.
