In an age of escalating environmental, technological, and social risks, hazard literacy—the capacity to understand, assess, and act upon hazards—is emerging as a vital component of education for sustainable development, disaster resilience, and global citizenship. This international conference invites scholars, educators, practitioners, and policymakers to explore how hazard literacy can serve as a bridge between education, policy, and community engagement, advancing both justice and resilience in diverse contexts.
We welcome proposals that address the following topics, but are not limited to:
Hazard literacy in formal, informal, and non-formal education
Curriculum design for disaster risk reduction and sustainability
The role of teachers and schools in building resilient communities
Participatory and community-based approaches to hazard education
Hazard communication, misinformation, and risk perception
The intersection of hazard literacy with climate justice and social equity
Innovative tools (e.g., simulations, VR, AI) for hazard and disaster education
Policy frameworks and governance for hazard education
Youth agency and intergenerational learning in hazard preparedness
Case studies from local, national, or transnational settings
