Session #5: Time to refine our goals and vote
Building on the previous four sessions, this conversation focused on prioritizing the community goals. We asked the community what changes they would like to see implemented and created in Kent County. What are programs, initiatives, or services that can be created and funded locally? These goals and strategies will guide the effort and monetary investments of the Kent County Local Management Board.
In small groups, neighbors discussed what goals were most important to them. The categories were broken up into
Economic Stability
Youth and adult development and skills
Community support and wellness
Jobs and access to them
Business development and local economy
Housing
Housing affordability and assistance
Advocacy: Neighbors helping Neighbors
Getting rehoused: transitional housing
We need more affordable housing
Education
Youth and community programming
Bridging culture and language
Supporting all learners with dignity
Safe and supportive school climate
Parent involvement and engagement
Everyone received 5 colored stickers (rainbow ranking: Red=1st choice, Orange=2nd choice, Yellow=3rd choice, Green=4th choice, Blue=5th choice).
