Session #3: Deep Dive – Economic Stability
During this session we worked to identify the needs, opportunities, and recommendations around economic stability. The goals of this session were to explore our experiences around jobs, cost of living, and supportive programs here in Kent County. We also worked to uplift ideas from our community and refine goals around economic stability to develop 2 or more draft SMART goals
In small groups, neighbors shared stories of ecenomic instability, lack of access to resources or programs, and lack of access to transportation. Participants were asked:
“Are there existing programs that could be expanded or revised to better serve people here?”
Through collaborative discussion and visioning, the group identified major themes and began drafting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals that would move Kent County closer to being more supportive of business development and increasing jobs that are accesible to people.
Emerging Focus Areas Included:
Cost of living and public resources
Employment and Entrepreneurship
Transportation and family survival
