NEW! Video for Teachers with program updates & reminders!
In this lesson, students will be introduced to the idea that some places provide better homes for plants and animals than others. They will also learn about some of the native plants and animals in our local watershed. Students will need to use Safari on their iPads.
GoldiLox Storybook - English or Spanish
In this lesson, students make a claim about what trout need to survive, and if humans can change a trout's environment. They then read the story of GoldiLox as a class and determine what southern steelhead trout need and how humans can help protect environments.
In this lesson, students play a nature scavenger hunt bingo game to find natural objects. Students may go outside (with parent/teacher permission) or look out a window. Students then practice making observations with one of the objects they found.
Virtual Habitats Hike (Optional)
This is an optional asynchronous activity for students. If you would like students to do it, but do not have time in class, you can give them the website to explore on their own at home. We especially encourage this activity for students who may be nervous about the field work and/or going into nature.
Website Tutorial - Video or PDF (you will want to review this resource and share the information with the class before releasing them to explore on their own)
