San Pasqual High School (SPHS) Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) members woke up extra early on November 15, 2025 to attend their first competitive conference of the school year hosted by DECA members at Canyon Crest Academy (CCA) in Del Mar, California. Over twenty SPHS DECA members competed, with it being half of the members first times competing, while previous SPHS DECA members entered their second year competing. SPHS DECA students spent the weeks leading up to the conference reviewing business terms within their respective categories and learned how to have a successful interview. For the first year ever, CCA DECA students hosted a "Mini-Conference". This conference is geared towards helping first-year members understand how DECA conferences operate, as well as getting returning members back into the flow. This year, the categories to compete in were Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship Series, Business Finance Series, Marketing Communication Series, and Sports and Entertainment Marketing Series. Within each category, participants complete a 100-question test with questions based on their category, as well as perform two interview scenarios in the role of a business employee in that category. Congratulations to all finalists and winners:
Juliet L.: Top 10 Overall Human Resource Management, 1st Place Human Resource Management Role Play A
Diana A.G.: Top 10 Overall Marketing Communication Series, 2nd Place Marketing Career Cluster Exam
Rachel H.: Top 10 Overall Human Resource Management
Rachel N.: Top 10 Overall Entrepreneurship Series
Devin B.: Top 10 Overall Marketing Communication Series
Now, members are preparing for their next Conference in Costa Mesa first regional DECA INC. competition. The CCA Mini-Conference served as a great learning opportunity for all members and was just the beginning of a great competitive year for the SPHS DECA Club.
