San Pasqual High School DECA was recently awarded the Thrive level Chapter Campaign and Achievement Level Membership Campaign for the 2024-2025 school year. The results were announced on decadirect.org. Each fall, DECA recognizes leading chapters that have built strong local programs focused on serving an exceptional number of members, advisors, alumni and business partners. These chapters and individuals dedicate their year to academic and career preparation, community service projects, membership recruitment, school outreach activities and other DECA-related endeavors. The chapter’s advisor and student leaders have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to DECA. DECA’s membership campaign is designed to help chapters grow by making the DECA experience available to more student members, keeping alumni involved and engaging professional members such as administrators, teachers, parents and business partners.
DECA’s promotional campaign provides chapter members an opportunity to share with their school and community what DECA is all about and how their chapter is making a positive impact on its members and community. On November 20, 2024, DECA members from San Pasqual High School traveled to Rincon Middle School to inspire, motivate, and teach over 700 students about their life stories and future career goals. Rincon Middle School is a title one school located in Escondido, California, and serves special and general education populations through adaptive social-emotional learning programs. The goal of the presentation was to connect with the middle school students through personal experiences and inspire the students to pursue their education. The presentation began with an introduction to DECA, then transitioned into how each member became who they are today. The presentation ended with an open panel, where students from both education populations asked questions about personal life, middle school advice, high school experiences, and higher education/career goals.
In DECA’s community service campaign, chapters held a community service activity, engaged at least 75% of its members, and created at least one form of publicity or promotion. This Thanksgiving season, SPHS DECA made a meaningful impact on our community through successfully organizing and completing a canned food drive to support those who don't have access to food. With 85% of our members actively participating, SPHS DECA collected 51 cans of food. The canned food drive ran from November 19 through November 22, with members promoting the event through social media posts on our official SPHS DECA Instagram. After the drive was over, President, Olivia Garcia, and Vice President, Lena Divine, delivered the collected donations to Julia’s Pantry at Interfaith Community Solutions of Escondido, an organization dedicated to empowering those in need to seek food and safety.
Of the 4,127 DECA chapters, only 1,000 chapters earned recognition in DECA’s chapter campaigns and only 1,214 chapters earned recognition in DECA’s membership campaign.
