DHHS Developmental Disabilities Services: (click on the link for more information)

The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DHHS-DD) provides funding and oversight for the Medicaid home and community-based developmental disabilities waiver services. This includes: determining eligibility for developmental disabilities services, providing service coordination for eligible individuals and monitoring and paying developmental disabilities providers.

Autism Family Network (AFN) is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization located in Lincoln, Nebraska, which was founded in 2006 with a passion, love, and desire to help families who have children with autism.

Their mission is "to provide a safe place for families to share their smiles and stories and shed their tears with those who truly understand...to know they are not alone." It is place that they can find help amidst frustration and connection with other families.

Autism Action Partnership, also known as the GWR Sunshine Foundation, provides education and awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders, including their impact on individuals, families and the community. Special attention is given to diagnosis and treatment options; educational opportunities; and community resources available to diagnosed individuals and their families.

Our Mission is to improve the quality of life of persons on the Autism Spectrum and their families through education, advocacy and support, thereby enabling them to be an integral part of the community.

Provides services in early intervention, inclusive childcare, medical rehabilitation and autism services for young children and their families; job training and coaching, employment placement and transportation services for adults with disabilities, including veterans; adult day services and employment opportunities for older adults – in addition to a variety of additional services for people of all ages including mental health and recovery programs, assistive technology, camp and recreation, caregiving support including respite – and much more. 

Additionally, we’ve served transitioning military, veterans and their families and caregivers since WWII and continue to be the “go to” resource for them to help ensure their successful transition to civilian life.

Caregiving is rewarding but stressful. Respite care - planned or emergency - is the provision of short-term, temporary relief to those who are caring for family members with special need. PTI Nebraska: (click on the link for more information)

PTI Nebraska is a statewide resource for families of children with disabilities and special health care needs. They are equipped to provide information to parents on how to navigate the school system, will attend IEP meetings and meet with parents prior to advise on their and their child's procedural rights, as well as provide many other parent supports.
