Arguably one of the best parts about Summer Honors...our evening activities! Students get to make new friends and memories in a fun environment, outside of the classroom. We have a wide range of evening activities to capture the many different interests of all of our students!
Kick Off Night
We kicked off the night with pizza and then split into groups and played name games to get to know people. Then we were fortunate enough to listen to some of our SHP alumni explain tradition origins and tell some stories from their program experiences. We learned a little more about the history of summer honors through a group Kahoot and introduced the traditions and mascots to our newcomers. We ended the night with a small group scavenger hunt where kids took pictures of scenarios and interactive challenges around town.
From intense volleyball, pickle ball, and corn hole tournaments to chill board games and student-led video games - the night was full of fun and competitive spirit! Tristan Berg and Bladen Williams won the pickleball Tournament. Levi Burchell and Cheyenne Vahl were the Cornhole champions. Finally, congrats to Code Blue Spikers (or the Med Sci Class) for being the volleyball champions!
Game Night
Poetry Slam & Talent Show
The Poetry Slam and Talent show always make for an eventful night! Summer Florell was the winner of the Poetry Slam and the Cherry Coke Crown! We love seeing all of our students talents and poetry abilities no matter what class they are in. Thank you to the Creative Writing class for putting on the best night and for all of those who displayed their talents!
We were busy on "Y" night having SO much fun! We spent the night in the pool playing water volleyball, swimming, and dunking basketballs; outside in the beautiful weather playing more volleyball, spikeball, and Gaga ball; and inside enjoying root beer floats and games!
We got to see what the Drama class had been up to during class the last two weeks! They performed "Almost Maine" and we loved every second of it! We could not be more proud of them and their talent. Afterwards we celebrated Maude's 38th birthday at the lake with an ice cream cake! Maude's birthday happens to land on every second Wednesday of summer honors and we love throwing her a party every year.
Danced the night away for our last evening activity of the year! We had SO much fun. The pictures say it all.
