Secure video meetings for your classroom.
Keep students, staff, and parents connected with video conferencing built on Google’s robust and secure global infrastructure.
Currently, there is no easy, quick built-in breakout room feature within Google Meet, however, there is a work around. What you need to do is to create separate Google Meetings for each room. There are many different ways to do this (Calendar, Meet App, Classroom Link modification). Once you have your separate meeting links, you would copy each of the meeting links and share them with your students either using a snazzy template (see below) or in a Google Classroom post. You could create a "Break Out Room" topic in Classroom to easily locate the links in the future. As a teacher, you would have each breakout room meeting open on separate tabs for you to "hop in" on your teacher laptop. There is also a Breakout Room extension that you can try, but the set up is not intuitive.
Check out some of the videos below to see different methods of setting up your links. We have also included some slide templates that you can copy and modify to meet your needs.
