Description: Unlock the potential of your high-ability learners no matter what you teach! Join us for an interactive session on Curriculum Compacting, a high-impact strategy designed for teachers of any grade level or subject area. We’ll dive into how to identify students who have already mastered the material, eliminate redundant lessons, and replace them with high-interest enrichment that actually challenges them.

During our Zoom meetings, you will learn concrete ways to implement curriculum compacting and reflect on your experiences. In between meetings, participants will be expected to spend time implementing curriculum compacting strategies in their classroom. Teachers can earn up to 9 gifted professional development hours for participation in these sessions (five hours of independent work in between meetings, five 45-minute Zoom meetings).

Description: Have you heard of depth and complexity and wondered what it is all about? Are you looking for ways to challenge your students to think more deeply? If so, we invite you to join our virtual book study using Gifted Guild's Guide to Depth and Complexity - Finding Your Way Through the Framework by Ian Byrd and Lisa Van Gemert.

Everyone, from beginners to experts, is welcome to join! Beginners to depth and complexity will spend approximately 5 hours reading the book independently, and 4 hours meeting on Zoom. Those who have read the book before are still welcome to join! In place of reading the book, you will spend approximately 5 hours incorporating the prompts of depth and complexity into your instruction, and spend 4 hours sharing your experience on Zoom.

Prior to the first session, participants should purchase the book Gifted Guild's Guide to Depth and Complexity - Finding Your Way Through the Framework by Ian Byrd and Lisa Van Gemert. Teachers can earn up to 9 gifted professional development hours for participation in the book study (5 hours of independent work and 4 hours of Zoom meetings).

Beyond the Worksheet - Stretch Math Learning for All

Description: Every classroom has students who finish early, grasp concepts instantly, or crave a deeper challenge—whether they are formally identified as gifted or simply ready for more. How do we meet their needs without creating "extra" work for ourselves? During this session, you will practice the "High-Floor, High-Ceiling" approach, creating tasks that offer infinite "stretch" for advanced thinkers. Participants will also explore how to use Artificial Intelligence and Ohio’s iMTSS framework to design math instruction that has no "ceiling." We will move away from "more problems" and toward "deeper thinking" for every student in your room.
