Description: This five-part cohort series bridges the gap between academic intent, classroom practice, and the technical systems driving Ohio’s accountability metrics. Moving beyond a reactive review of final grades, teams will achieve true two-way alignment: ensuring internal student-level data collections accurately reflect classroom efforts, while using real-time state reporting to drive targeted instructional adjustments.
To maximize impact, each session is deliberately scheduled to collide with critical state data drops, preview windows, and EMIS verification cycles. Cohorts will actively navigate state-level repositories to audit and correct live data before submission deadlines lock, ensuring that compliance accurately reflects and supports a healthy Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. Leadership teams are highly encouraged to attend alongside their EMIS Coordinators.
Session 1:
How do we bridge the gap between instructional goals and state data collection?
Following the mid-September report card release, teams will evaluate their cross-functional data structures and use state portals to build a synchronized instructional-reporting master calendar that defines when the District MTSS Leadership Team must review systemic Tier 1 data trends.
Session 2:
Are our reading diagnostics and intervention tracking systems accurately reflecting student growth?
Timed with the close of the Fall 3rd Grade ELA assessment window, teams will audit K-3 literacy streams by crosswalking local diagnostics with official state reports to ensure that classroom-level MTSS Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions are properly documented on state-mandated Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plans (RIMPs).
Session 3:
Where are we losing critical fractions of points within our district demographic metrics?
Aligning with the late autumn release of updated EVAAS growth projections, teams will deconstruct the mathematical calculations behind Performance Index targets to deploy systemic Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) tailored to explicit student subgroups.
Session 4:
Are we systematically capturing every credential, enlistment, and college credit earned by our high school students?
Positioned during the midyear student EMIS collection, teams will audit local graduation pipelines and use state readiness reports to build an MTSS secondary early-warning system that flags and interventions for students missing critical pathway markers.
Session 5:
How do we convert these technical data configurations into daily, sustainable classroom practices?
Strategically scheduled just prior to spring assessment windows and the state Roster Verification window, teams will complete a practical district action plan that hardwires integrated data insights directly into building-level MTSS meeting structures, including Teacher-Based Teams (TBTs) and Building Leadership Teams (BLTs).
