Report Card Resources link - This link provides technical documentation to each of the components that make up the Overall Rating.
The Guide to 2023-2024 Ohio School Report Cards provides updated information on what the Ohio School report cards measure. Some examples include the Overall Rating, Achievement, Progress, Early Literacy, Gap Closing, Graduation, and College, Career Workforce and Military Readiness.
In addition to providing how state report cards are calculated and what they measure, this presentation also includes resources and tools for accessing and analyzing state report card data. There are slides on accessing the Secure Data Center too. Lots of resources all in one place, be sure to check it out!
Performance Index will now be 100% of the component
Indicator's met will be reported, but not part of the Achievement calculation
PI - Top 2% for the denominator; use to be 120
Measures the academic performance of students compared to expected growth on Ohio's State Tests.
Step 1 - Is based on the Gain Index. The confidence that growth happened or fell short of those growth expectations. Starts at 3 stars and either stays at 3 stars or moves to 2 or 4.
Step 2 - Effect Size - Magnitude of the growth | Schools and districts with above expected growth will have 5*, schools and districts with below expected growth will have 1.*
The Gap Closing component shows how well schools are meeting the performance expectations for students in English language arts, math, and graduation. It also measures how schools are doing in supporting English learners to increase language proficiency, reducing chronic absenteeism for all students, and identifying gifted students and providing gifted services.
The Chronic Absenteeism Rate tracks the percentage of students who are chronically absent, indicating they miss a significant portion (10% or more) of the school year.
The Early Literacy Component measures reading improvement and proficiency for students in kindergarten through third grade. This component includes three different unrated measures that help provide a more complete picture of early literacy in our schools and districts. The three measures are combined to create a single rating for the Early Literacy Component.
Proficiency in 3rd grade reading
Promotion to 4th grade
Improving K-3 literacy
The Graduation Component includes both the four-year (weighted at 60%) graduation rate and the five-year graduation (weighted at 40%) rate.
Total students in a Four Year Graduation Cohort who demonstrated readiness by at least one element divided by the number of students in the Four Year Graduation Cohort.
