Candidates who give a verbal agreement in accepting a position are committing to school district.
Once a candidate accepts a position, he/she is expected to complete the school year and/or probationary certificate period.
TOPP expects candidate to honor this agreement and no longer seek employment with other districts.
Accepting a position by signing a letter of agreement for “at will” position/signing a letter of intent/signing a contract means accepting a position are committing to school district.
Expectation to complete the school year successfully on initial certification.
TOPP expectation is for candidate to honor agreement and no longer seek employment with any other districts.
Upon accepting a position, apply and pay for intern teaching certificate and pay for your fingerprinting through your TEAL account.
Candidates employed as instructional aides will have fingerprinting on file with the state database.
Candidates who have been employed with LEA (local education agencies) will need to check their TEAL account or contact the TEA Help Desk to confirm fingerprints are on file with the state database.
The fingerprinting process is critical and should be completed by teacher intern soon after district confirms employment verbally.
Teacher is not eligible to be in the classroom without having completed fingerprinting process.
TOPP reserves the right to approve all positions that are out-of-region teacher placements. Before accepting an out-of-region teaching position, please seek approval from your Educational Specialist.
….teaching position by an independent school district, charter school, or TEA recognized private school that is out-of-region and more than 150 miles in distance (one-way) from ESC-20 facilities will incur the additional $750 fee for out-of-region placement.
