Mental Health and Music Directions

This pandemic we are experiencing is foreign territory for many. This can be and is a traumatic experience for many people around the world. Some of you may even be feeling lonely, scared, or even irritated by the circumstances. All this can affect someone’s mental health. Music can have a positive effect on one’s mental health. Below is an article regarding how music can benefit mental health. Please read the article below which will only take you about 5 minutes. Then, on Google Classroom in the assignment called “Mental Health and Music”, please share a school-appropriate song (the title and youtube link) that you find benefits your mental health and helps you through this pandemic. At the end of the week, I will create a playlist with all of the songs and share it with your grade. Hopefully the songs you and your classmates shared can help the mental health of everyone right now.

Tik Tok has become a super popular app used by teenagers and pre-teens. Tik Tok is known for people creating 10 second videos and posting them for people to see. Lately, many Tik Tok users have been creating videos of themselves performing a popular dance that many Tik Tok users are doing. This week, it is your turn to become the person who creates the original dance that other Tik Tok users will do.

For this task, you must first select a song that is clean and appropriate for school. Then you will have to create some sort of dance that goes with it. (Bonus points for creativity here!) When you have that complete, you will record your Tik Tok on our classrooms Flipgrid page. Here, other people can see your Tik Tok and try to do the dance you created.

Watch my example on Flipgrid to see how this can be done! Flipgrid information found on Google Classroom.

Due Friday, May 8th

**If you do not feel comfortable creating your own dance, please do the Alternate Assignment found on Google Classroom.

Each time you complete a task, you can highlight or cross off the square on Google Classroom. The goal is to try to check off a complete row going horizontally, vertically, or both. With each bingo you receive, your name will be put into a drawing for one of three prizes (Culver’s gift cards--yes, I will mail them to you if we don’t come back to school!)! The more bingos you get, the more chances you get of receiving a prize! Please put how many bingos you received in the private comments section of the assignment in Google Classroom by Friday, April 24th at 8pm.

Important details!
