Class of 2024

Senior Year

100+ Hours of Community Service

AVID ERHS would like to congratulate four of our fantastic seniors on earning over 100 hours of community service: Ellie Mejia, Lucy Robles, Melissa Avilos, and Cassandra Gallardo. GPA, strength of schedule, school activities, and community service.

Melissa was accepted to 9 universities, but will spend her first two years at Pasadena City College. Cassandra Gallardo turned down CSU Fullerton to attend CSU Los Angeles to study Nursing. Ellie turned down UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and four CSUs to spend her first two years at East LA City College. Lucy turned down UC San Diego, 4 CSUs, and 11 private/out of state colleges to study at CSU Long Beach.

To learn why community service is important, you can read our explanation here.

AVID 2024 Graduates

Class of 2024

Congratulations to all our graduating AVID 12'ers. It was interesting having you zero period all year long. We took care of the big ticket items and I am excited for your next 4 years. Some of you have a clear patch towards your chosen career. Some of you are still unsure, and that's ok. Personally, I changed majors twice and spent 6 years in the US Navy before I became a HS Teacher. I keep going back to what JRR Tolkein (Lord of the Rings) wrote, " Not all that wander are lost." It's ok to take time to explore paths, as long as you learn something from the journey and eventually find what you were seeking.

Field Trip to San Diego Colleges

Junior Year

Field Trip - Colleges East of The Ranch

The AVID 11 class went to visit three campuses to the East of El Rancho - UC Riverside, Cal Baptist, and CSU Fullerton. Busses left at 8am and we planned on being at each campus for 90min. Students, in small groups, were given a Scavenger Hunt sheet of general locations on campus that all students should know. They took pictures in front of Admin buildings, Housing Locations, Student Unions, etc. Below are a few pictures that I took from Riverside and Fullerton.
