Hello everyone and welcome to the NCC Blog.
This term the Primary 4's will be learning all about
Our Body (science) in the Infinity Learning Lab.
We will be conducting lots of investigations to learn all about the 5 senses and exploring where our major organs are placed in our body.
In Religious and Moral Education they will be learning about the 5 K's relating to Sikhism.
I will regularly be posting on this blog so keep checking to see pictures of all the activities that your children have been involved in.
Here are some photographs of the Infinity Learning Lab and the activities your children can explore.
In science, we have been learning about our bodies. We drew around someone in our group then recorded as many names of the different parts of the body as we could name. We then placed paper cut outs of the major organs in the correct place.
In science we focussed on our senses. We started with our sense of taste and completed some taste tests.
We then learned about our sense of smell. We had smelly pots where we had to identify what it smelt of.
We were learning about our sense of sound and how our ears work. We used cup telephones to learn how vibrations help us hear.

In Topical Science we were learning about the engineers and scientists involved with the Mars Robot. We used knex to build our own robots.

In Religious and Moral Education we have been looking at Judaism. We have been learning about the inside of a synagogue. We also were learning about Torah Scrolls and made our own.
In Religious and Moral Education we were learning about the 5 pillars of Islam. We learned about faith, prayer, giving to charity, fasting and pilgrimage. We made our own prayer mats.

Water
Health and Wellbeing
Healthy Eating
Religious and Moral Education
Holi - Hinduism (25th Mar)
Holy week - Christianity (24th - 30th March)
In science we have been learning about water as a soild, liquid and a gas. We observed the temperature in a kettle to see what happened.
Through our water topic we have been learning about water that is polluted and unsafe to drink. We appreciate that we are lucky and have clean water to drink but realise that it is not the same for others in the world. We tried to clean "polluted" water with cotton wool, stones and sand. It did work a little but it was definately not clean.
In health and wellbeing, when learning about healthy eating, were made healthy sandwiches. We could chose either wholemeal or best of both bread, the filling were cheese, chicken or ham and we could add salad to our sandwich to make them extra healthy. They were delicious.
In religious and moral education we were looking at the religion of Judaism and learning about the Passover Festival called Pesach. We learned about the story of Moses and why this was celebrated with a special meal each year at spring time. We had to cut out and place the foods on our plate in our jotter. We wrote God in Hebrew in the middle of our plate. Each food symbolises a different thing that is important to the Jewish people celebrating the Hebrew people being freed from being slaves in Ancient Egypt.
In religious and moral education, we learned about the festival of Holi that people from the Hindu faith celebrate every year. We listened to the story and learned how good won over evil and how they celebrate this festival all over the world. It looked fun when they threw coloured paint powder over each other. We then got into groups and dramatised the story.

Minibeasts
We had a wonderful time visiting the Orry for science this week to learn and see for ourselves, the different habitats that minibeasts can live in. We visited an open grassland, partially shaded, shaded with a river and a forest habitat. We had to draw the habitat and include which minibeasts we thought would live there. We were so lucky with the weather but the midges were out near the river. Thank you to all the parent helpers and to Mr Barclay for taking all the photos.
As part of "try a new sports week" we had a go at rugby. Greg from Whitecraigs Rugby Club showed us some games. It turned out he came to Eaglesham Primary when he was younger and it was Mr Stern who encouraged him to play rugby.
We went on a bug hunt and managed to collect lots of different minibeasts to put into our tank in the classroom.
We had lots of fun in the sun!
